CFB Playoff National Championship

I love football. It's plain and simple. And I have to say, the 2016 College Football Playoff National Championship game was just another reason to love football. Alabama 45 - Clemson 40. C'mon, with a score like that, there was definitely some action on the field.

Alabama could have assumed they were going to need to use their talent, power, and speed to hold off the undefeated Tigers, but come the 4th... something else needed to happen. Nick Saban knew he had to try and keep the ball away from Deshaun Watson. That was when Saban proceeded to make one very bold call....He called for an onside kick called "pop kick" from Adam Griffith which Marlon Humphrey proceeded to catch it over the shoulder.

"It was tough. It really was," said Saban in a post game interview. "I made the decision to do it because the score was [tied] and we were tired on defense and weren't doing a great job of getting them stopped and felt like if we didn't do something or take a chance to change the momentum of the game that we wouldn't have a chance to win."

There were obviously many other exciting plays and touchdowns throughout the game, but this was definiteily one of the defining moments for Alabama. Alabama has now won 4 titles in 7 seasons.

Personally, the National Championship was a great experience not only because of the game, but because of my role as the field reporter for both the pregame show and during the game. I had the chance to meet some really outstanding people...

Moon Taxi: Nashville based rock & roll band. They are AWESOME. (http://ridethemoontaxi.com)

Brian Dawkins: Former NFL and Clemson Player

Nancy O'Dell: Host of Entertainment Tonight and quite possibly one of the biggest Clemson fans I have ever met. Not only was she wearing this cute flannel that had an embroidered tiger paw on the back, she also embroidered a tiger paw into her Golden Globes dress!

Canaan Smith: If you haven't heard him sing.... YOU HAVE TO! He was named 2015 Artist to Watch and after hearing him sing "America the Beautiful" I can understand why! Plus, he was a sweetheart and his wife Christy was a doll. Two thumbs up for Canaan! (www.canaansmith.com)

Production Crew: They were such kind & hard working people, and I can't thank them enough for all the laps around the field, the note card holding, the talking to myself as I rehearsed scripts & just being fun!

The Crew: Mark Brown, Pete Fiutak, Rachel Baribeau. My goodness, love and respect these humans. All so talented and wonderful in their own ways. And Martin McCreary (on the right) is one heck of a good producer. Thanks for another year team, looking forward to next year!
